Paolo Uccello: The Battle of San Romano: About We are looking at a battle scene – although quite a bloodless one. A large army of knights led by a man on a white horse, are coming to blows with a knight on the right hand side of the picture – although we get the impression that there are more of these soldiers just off the picture.

The Battle of San Romano is the most famous work by Paolo Uccello (). He was a pioneer of the perspective: he was obsessed by the study of reproduction of things according to difficult or almost impossible characteristic puts his art in contact with the Renaissance, but he was also still inside the spirit of London book International Gothic style.
